Data says aloud: quality and safety of vegetable are guaranteed

Routine monitoring of the qualified rate increased year by year  

 “Pollution-free Food Plan” proposed nationwide by Chinese Ministry of Agriculture In April, 2001 monitored the safety of vegetable routinely in the production bases、wholesale markets、farmers markets and the supermarkets in about 90 cities from 36 provinces and areas. In the test 58 kinds of commonly used pesticide are included, and more than 80 kinds of common vegetable and more than 18 thousand samples of vegetable have been tested every year. 

After 10 years work,the safety level of pollution-free vegetable has been promoted and the qualified rate is stable at higher levels after increasing year by year. 

The detection rate of pesticides was greatly reduced.

The improvement of the quality and safety of vegetables is reflected in the following aspects, the forbidden pesticides such as methamidophos and parathion can’t be test out basically, the restrict pesticides such as omethoate and carbofuran , the testing result show that the number of overweights greatly reduced. Meanwhile the testing value reduces also. Though some pesticide recidual are tested out , the testing value is not high and is less than the limiting value.

At present, some consumers think the pesticide residues of vegetable are unsafe, they confused the concept the detection of pesticide residues and pesticide residues exceeded. The using of pesticides in the production of vegetables is normal, the using of pesticides relates a residual problem, but there is  residue does not mean that the product is not safe. If there is no residual value exceeds the limit, the product is safe, if more than the limited value, can only say that there is a security risk, not necessarily cause damage.

Usually , the low toxicity pesticide is used in the plant protection 


To  improve the level of the vegetable quality safety , the main protection of vegetable disease and  pest are the agricultural control , physical control , biological control ,such as fly net , hanging the yellow and blue traps ,using the solar energy insecticidal lamp ,using the sex pheromone to kill the pest and so on ,meanwhile  decrease the using of the pesticide . There are some low toxicity and efficient pesticide in the vegetable production , such as the chlorantraniliprole ( LD 50 >500 mg/kg ) used most widely , the limit value is 20mg/kg. Generally we can test the value less than 1mg/kg in the vegetable , there is no security risk . 


   To strenth the supervision of the vegetable quality safety , our agricultural ministry set the QC system of the agricultural products and support the construction of  2552 products QC system around our country, to develop the quality control of the vegetable . The ministry of agriculture start to test the vegetable safety four times of one year from 2001, every province (region) develop the supervision and testing work of vegetable safety as well , the effect is very significant , there  is no acute poisoning incident caused by the vegetable pesticide residues overweight at present . The qualified rate of the countrywide vegetable reaches 96.3%. 


   Therefore there is safety guarantee for the vegetable in the market, consumers can be rest assured to eat.
